The York Princesses currently 'enjoy the lives they’re able to live', a royal author told GB News

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have "no desire" to work in King Charles's monarchy, a royal commentator has exclusively told GB News.

The Princesses of York, who are the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, are not currently working members of the Royal Family.

Now that King Charles, 75, and the Princess of Wales, 42, are receiving hospital treatment in The London Clinic, there are fewer members of the Royal Family available to perform duties.

Prince William, 41, has announced that he will step back from engagements while his wife is recuperating after her operation.

Meanwhile, Prince Andrew, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry all stepped down from working royal duties over four years ago.

This has meant that Princess Anne, Queen Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Kents and the Gloucesters are the only royals currently out on engagements.

Therefore, some commentators believe that the King should enlist the York Princesses as working royals for the time being to make up the numbers.

Victoria Arbiter, a royal author, spoke exclusively to GB News to explain why she believes this is unlikely.

She claimed: "As the only blood-born princesses of their generation, it would be wonderful to see Beatrice and Eugenie take on more responsibility.

"But neither have indicated a desire to do so.

"Likewise, the King is keen to maintain a more cost-effective, slimmed-down monarchy."

Arbiter explained why the current slimmed-down monarchy has started to show its limitations amid the current health concerns within the Royal Family.

She explained: "The current situation illustrates the perils associated with a smaller pool of senior working royals.

"But it’s temporary and both the King and the Princess of Wales plan to get back to work as soon as they’re able.

"Beatrice and Eugenie are happy to support the family behind the scenes.

"But I think each enjoys the life they’re able to live without the added burden of a full schedule of royal engagements."
