Princess Anne has arrived in Singapore for a two-day working visit commemorating six decades of diplomatic ties between Britain and Singapore.

The 75-year-old royal travelled directly from a four-day Australian tour to undertake the Asian engagement.

Accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Princess Royal landed on Wednesday to begin a series of official duties aimed at bolstering UK-Singapore relations.

The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the two nations, according to Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Despite challenging weather conditions that threatened to disrupt proceedings, the monarch's sister pressed ahead with her packed itinerary.

The Princess Royal's first engagement involved a solemn ceremony at Kranji War Cemetery, where she serves as President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Together with Vice Admiral Laurence, she observed the site's recent VJ Day commemorations and paid respects to fallen servicemen.

The royal couple subsequently toured HMS Spey, the Royal Navy patrol vessel currently deployed in the region.

Despite deteriorating weather that brought heavy rainfall, Princess Anne successfully completed her cemetery programme before conditions worsened.

This marks at least her third visit to Singapore, having previously travelled there in 1972 with her parents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and again in 2016.

High-level diplomatic meetings form a central component of Princess Anne's Singapore programme.

The Princess Royal is scheduled to hold separate audiences with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during her stay.

Industrial visits will showcase British commercial interests in the region, with planned stops at the Airbus Asia Training Centre and Rolls-Royce's Seletar campus facilities.

These engagements underscore the economic dimensions of the bilateral relationship.

The Princess, who competed as an equestrian at the Olympics, maintains one of the busiest schedules among working royals.

Her current tour demonstrates continued royal commitment to Commonwealth and international partnerships despite recent family controversies.

A wardrobe change saw Princess Anne don vibrant orange attire for her visit to the National Orchid Garden, where a new hybrid was christened 'Dendrobium Anne' in her honour.

The botanical tribute adds to Singapore's tradition of naming orchids after distinguished visitors.

The working visit concluded at the British High Commissioner's Residence, where Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Laurence joined British High Commissioner Nikesh Mehta for King Charles III's birthday celebrations.

The centrepiece featured a specially designed three-tiered cake representing the Union Jack through blue, white and red layers, topped with an edible replica of St Edward's Crown from the King's Coronation.
