Princess Anne arrived in Sydney on Saturday afternoon, commencing her first Australian visit in two years alongside her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

The 75-year-old royal emerged from the airport under clear skies, accompanied by a security detail of five guards.

Dressed in a double-breasted black jacket paired with a striped cream shirt and light-coloured trousers, she acknowledged waiting journalists with a smile before departing in a private vehicle.

The couple's arrival marks the first visit by a member of the British Royal Family to Australia this year.

Their four-day tour, running until November 11, will see the Princess undertake military engagements across Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane to commemorate a significant milestone for the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.

Following her airport arrival, the Princess Royal proceeded to Admiralty House, where she was received by Governor-General Sam Mostyn and her husband, Simon Beckett.

The formal welcome included a traditional ceremony conducted by Cammeraygal Elder Brendan Kerin, who performed both a Welcome to Country and a smoking ceremony in recognition of the royal visit.

The encounter between the two prominent figures generated enthusiastic responses on social media platforms.

The Princess Royal's schedule begins on Sunday with commemorative services across Sydney.

Monday's programme takes her to Canberra for additional centenary-related events, including a commemorative parade.

The tour concludes on Wednesday in Brisbane, where at noon Princess Anne will attend a Remembrance Day Service and Capability Demonstration.

She will also place a wreath at the 7 Combat Signal Regiment Memorial at Gallipoli Barracks to mark Armistice Day.

Princess Anne has held the position of Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals since 1997, making this centenary celebration particularly significant after 28 years of patronage.
