Prince William and Catherine have shared a "beautiful and meaningful message" as the couple celebrates International Day of Forests.
The Prince and Princess of Wales posted on social media footage of work done by the Duchy of Cornwall to "protect and restore these landscapes so nature, wildlife and communities can thrive for generations to come".
On Instagram, the couple wrote: "Celebrating International Day of Forests by shining a light on one of the UK's rarest habitats, temperate rainforests."
Head of Communications and Nature with the Duchy of Cornwall, Emma Magee, discussed the importance of looking after forests and the need for preserving them in Britain.

She said: "Temperate rainforests are one of the rarest habitats in the world. Here in the South West of England. We're incredibly fortunate to still have surviving fragments like Wistman's Wood and Black a Tor Copse, on Dartmoor.
"These are ancient woodlands shaped by the cool and wet Atlantic climate and incredibly rich in life. The trees, the mosses, the lichens and the ferns all depend on that constant moisture. But around 90 per cent of Britain's temperate rainforest has been lost over time. So what remains is globally important.
"For the Duchy, protecting and expanding these habitats is vital. We're working towards an estate where nature enriches people and people enrich nature.
"We do this through working with our partners to restore habitats, to support biodiversity and to ensure these remarkable places are here for future generations."

Senior Future Farming Advisor with the Duchy, Jeremy Clitherow, shared the effects of restoring temperate rainforests.
He explained: "The woodlands that are created help to capture and store carbon. They help to regulate water flow through the landscape. And of course, they are incredibly rich habitats for wildlife.
"At the Duchy, a really important part of our work is to work with our partners, who've been collecting acorns and seeds from the site and growing them on. This means that the trees that are planted out are locally adapted and resilient.
"And so the woodlands that are created are well suited to the environment and landscapes that are returning to. By restoring native woodlands and connecting them to other habitats in the landscape. We're helping with nature recovery, but also, this strengthens the long-term sustainability of farming and helps the Duchy to move towards its net-zero ambitions."

| GETTYThe message comes after a busy week for the Prince and Princess of Wales, which saw William journey to Bournemouth, where he met an international delegation to learn from his charity aimed at preventing youth homelessness.
William launched his Homewards project in 2023, aiming to create a comprehensive plan to eliminate homelessness in all its manifestations.
His wife, Catherine, spent St Patrick's Day with the Irish Guards, where she serves as the regiment's colonel.
The Princess of Wales presented the traditional sprigs of shamrock to the officers and guardsmen, who then issued them along the ranks.
Her Royal Highness was seen smiling and laughing as she went through the ceremony.
