Prince William to leave the UK just one day after stepping up for King Charles alongside Princess Kate

The Prince and Princess of Wales will greet the French President and Mrs Macron at RAF Northolt on behalf of King Charles today

Prince William will leave the UK on Wednesday as Kensington Palace has confirmed the royal will travel to Switzerland in his role as Patron of the Football Association.

The Prince of Wales will attend the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 group stage match between England and the Netherlands. The game will be played at the Letzigrund in Zurich.


The trip to Switzerland comes just one day after Princess Kate and Prince William will take centre stage in welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte when they arrive for their State Visit to the United Kingdom today.

The royal couple will greet the French President and Mrs Macron at RAF Northolt on behalf of King Charles III.

Following this initial welcome, William and Kate will accompany the French presidential couple on their journey to Windsor.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will then join the King and Queen for the formal ceremonial welcome at the Royal Dais on Datchet Road in Windsor.

Their prominent role continues as they participate in the carriage procession through Windsor town alongside Their Majesties and the French visitors, marking a significant diplomatic moment for the royal couple.

A Royal Salute will be fired both in Windsor's Home Park and at the Tower of London to mark the occasion.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will then join the King and Queen for the formal ceremonial welcome at the Royal Dais on Datchet Road in Windsor.

Upon arrival at Windsor Castle's Quadrangle, the presidential couple will receive a Guard of Honour Royal Salute whilst the regimental band performs both the French and British national anthems.

The Prince and Princess of Wales will stand with the royal party to observe the military rank's march past.

Last week, Prince William visited St. George's Park to meet the England Women's football team.

In his role as Patron of The Football Association, he arrived at England's national football centre to wish the squad luck for the tournament.

The prince subsequently met current squad members alongside their friends and families to discuss their tournament preparations.

Upon arrival, the royal received a briefing from England Women's Head Coach Sarina Wiegman and senior FA officials about the team's tournament preparations.
