Senior courtiers have made clear they do not expect King Charles to take action against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Prince William will take measures against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once he is on the throne, according to insiders.

Meghan Markle has stirred up controversy by using her HRH title, despite agreeing not to after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.

The Duchess recently sent a gift basket to cosmetics entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima containing homemade jam, organic ice cream and flowers.

The package notably included a card reading: "With the compliments of HRH, The Duchess of Sussex".

Lima shared this detail in a YouTube video featuring an interview with Meghan, uploaded on Monday.

Despite the visible use of the HRH title, Meghan's representatives have denied she is using it for commercial purposes.

This is not the first time in recent weeks that the duchess has publicised her royal title.

Meghan posted a message on her Instagram account from a Ukrainian government minister addressing her as "Your Royal Highness".

The decision to publish this message has been viewed as a deliberately provocative act by royal sources.

A source told the Mail: "Harry and Meghan are like rebellious teenagers."

Another insider said: "They're constantly pushing the boundaries to test what they can get away with."

Senior courtiers have made clear they do not expect King Charles to take action against his son and daughter-in-law.

The monarch has traditionally avoided confrontation and has kept options open for the Sussexes should they seek to return to royal duties.

He has not removed Harry from his role as a Counsellor of State, which could see him standing in for royal duties in emergencies.

Instead, the King requested that Princess Anne and Prince Edward be added to the list of Counsellors, reducing the need to call upon Harry or Prince Andrew.

The Daily Beast cited sources who claimed Prince William wants to "strip" Harry and Meghan of their titles when he takes the throne.

While Kensington Palace has not commented on the claims, insiders told the Mail they expect the Prince of Wales to take some sort of action against his brother and sister-in-law once he is King.

They cited the fact that William quickly denied Meghan and Harry's claims the day after their Oprah Winfrey interview, telling a reporter: "We are very much not a racist family."

The insider told the Mail: "That gives you a taste of the no-nonsense approach that he would take."
