The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said they were 'shaken up' after being chased by paparazzi

King Charles and Prince William have not reached out to Prince Harry and Meghan following their "near catastrophic" car chase, the couple's biographer claims.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes said the couple were chased by photographers in New York City on Tuesday after they attended the Women of Vision awards.

Royal expert and co-author of the couple's tell-all biography has reported that no member of the Royal Family has been in touch with Harry and Meghan since the incident.

Omid Scobie tweeted on Thursday: "Spokespersons for both King Charles and Queen Camilla, and Prince William and Princess Kate have declined to comment.

"I understand that no member of the Royal Family has reached out to the Sussexes since today's news broke four hours ago."

According to Harry and Meghan's press secretary, Ashley Hansen they were "incredibly scared and shaken up" on Tuesday evening.

She claimed that NYPD officers had to confront photographers and ask for space on several occasions, but said "that wish was not respected".

"When you read the statement you assume it's some sort of Fast and the Furious situation in the middle of New York City, which we know crawls at a snail's pace," Scobie told the BBC.

"It was sort of a game of cat and mouse, sometimes their car sat in traffic surrounded by photographers on bikes and cars behind them.

"And then there were moments when the road was clear and the car went up to 80 mph trying to lose some of the people that were following them."

The couple's spokesperson said the incident involved half a dozen cars with blacked out windows, driving dangerously and putting their lives in danger.

They added that the chase could also have been fatal as photographers were seen driving on the sidewalk, running red lights, and driving while taking pictures.

Harry and Meghan's security officer Chris Sanchez said the alleged papparazzi chase was "very chaotic".

"I have never seen, experienced anything like this. What we were dealing with was very chaotic," he told CNN.

"At one point they blocked the limousine (carrying the couple) and started taking pictures until we were able to get out."

He added that Harry and Meghan were "scared, exhausted, but relieved to be back" when they reached their destination.
