"I've been able to live out my childhood dream for many seasons playing with some of the best players, coaches and the staff behind," North said.

"I can't thank my family, my friends and you guys enough for the support you've shown me over the years."

North reflected on his emotions as he prepares to step away from the sport, describing the support he has received as meaning "the world" to him.

"The next chapter? Still working on that one, but I'm excited to see where that journey takes me," he said, concluding his message with "Diolch" – Welsh for thank you.

William's tribute reflects his ongoing involvement with Welsh rugby, particularly in his role as patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, a position that has allowed him to regularly attend both men's and women's matches.
