Royal commentator Charles Rae has labelled Prince William as Sir David Attenborough's "sorcerer's apprentice", pointing out that the environmental torch is being passed between generations.

"You just mentioned it. Sir David is 99. William's only 42. There is over a 50 year gap. And this is the baton being handed over. And William is very passionate.
"He has credited Sir David for giving him the impetus to, you know, step into the environmental argument. And I saw that video yesterday and it's a it's a lovely little video and I encourage everyone to have a look at it.

"It's a very serious video, but it's got some fun times where so David relates how he he almost died in a faulty original diver's helmet.
"William burst out laughing, as you did because of the way that Sir David told the story. But there is a very important message that both men are sending out, that we really have to take care of our oceans."
He added: "They have a deep, deep respect for each other. I mean, I should imagine that both of them.
"If you sat down with them, they would be really easy to get on with and you could have a really decent conversation about a wide range of matters.

"I mean, so David's, as we've just said, David's been around for a very, very long time, you know, and and William is learning at the master's feet."
Kensington Palace released a statement about the visit, noting William's meetings with Earthshot Prize finalists working on coral reef restoration, seaweed farming transformation and plastic pollution prevention.
The prince wore his signature navy suit with a recycled and sustainable tie as he walked the blue carpet at the Grimaldi Forum venue.
William's high-profile appearance saw him meeting with world leaders and fellow royals at the prestigious event.
He was photographed shaking hands with Prince Albert II of Monaco before the two royals smiled for cameras together.

The Prince of Wales also engaged with Costa Rica's President Rodrigo Chaves Robles before posing alongside Prince Albert, Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and France's President Emmanuel Macron.

William's presence at the forum, occurring on the eve of World Oceans Day, underscored his expanding role on the global stage as he champions environmental causes through initiatives like The Earthshot Prize, of which he is founder and president.
During his speech, William expressed optimism about the future of ocean conservation, telling attendees: "I am an optimist because as the Founder of The Earthshot Prize, I see the incredible examples of the ideas, innovations and technologies that are harnessing the power of the ocean whilst protecting its vitality."
