Prince Harry has been hit with a new desertion as another "crucial" key figure from one of his charities has left their post.

Sally Davey, the chief executive of the Duke’s eco travel nonprofit Tavalyst, informed him she would step down later this year.

Travalyst was launched by Prince Harry in 2019 with a mission to make tourism more environmentally friendly.

A source has said her departure would be a "huge blow to Travalyst" as "Sally has been crucial in its development," the Daily Mail reported.

Regarding her exit, Ms Davey said: “It has been an incredible honour to work with so many impact-driven leaders, passionate about the change that’s possible and the unique opportunity Travalyst has to shape a more sustainable future for the tourism industry and the planet.

“I haven’t taken this choice lightly; however, it is a positive one and the right one for me and my family at this time.

“I’m delighted to leave on such a high note, and happy to be with the organisation until December. The work continues, and what important work it is. I can’t wait to see what Travalyst does next, she said.

The outgoing charity boss also shared a direct address to Prince Harry, who she described as a "confidant and guide".

"I will always be grateful for your support, including as my confidant and guide during this personal decision to step back.

Ms Davey concluded: "I’m proud of what we’ve built together. And while I’ll be stepping down as CEO, I remain as committed as ever to Travalyst’s mission."

The Duke of Sussex also had shared his thoughts on her exit, saying that: "I am so grateful to Sally for her commitment and drive over the last five years, which has grown Travalyst‘s impact and sparked real change across the travel industry.

"As this hugely successful chapter closes, we’re excited for the next – welcoming new leadership to accelerate our mission and deepen our impact. Tourism must create more opportunities for the communities it touches, and that work can’t wait.

"I remain as committed to this cause now as I was when I founded Travalyst six years ago, and I know Sally’s successor will help deliver the systemic change we all need, alongside our Board and committed partners," Harry concluded.

Ms Davey’s departure is the second major exit in recent months at Travalyst, with former chairwoman India Gary-Martin also leaving after a year and a half in post.

The nonprofit has also had to weather claims of hypocrisy because of Harry and Meghan’s use of private jets in the past.

Harry defended the arrangements at the time, admitting that "no one is perfect" and that it was more important for "balance" to be struck regarding travel.

However, the Duke faced similar criticism in May for embarking on a gas guzzling solo trip to China for a conference on behalf of Travalyst.

The eco nonprofit is not the only organisation linked to Prince Harry that has seen major departures in recent months.

In August, it was announced the Prince’s ally and close friend John James "JJ" Chalmers would step down as a trustee from his Invictus Games project.

The Royal Marines reservist and broadcaster, who was seriously wounded in the line of duty, left his role after only two years in post.
