Prince Harry took part in a bombshell interview after suffering a legal defeat in the UK

Prince Harry’s former priest has issued a stinging address to the Duke of Sussex for his “recent behaviour”.

Canon Angela Tilby, 75, published a sermon in which she despaired over the 40-year-old royal’s predicament.

“I grieve for that ginger-topped teenager I once preached to,” Tilby wrote in her piece for the Church Times.

The Anglican priest was a spiritual guide to Harry as a young man in 2002, during his time at Eton, and was present at his mother Princess Diana’s funeral years earlier.

I believe that he is a decent man. But, so far, he has found no way to switch off the trauma in his head,” she expressed.

Tilby’s address, titled 'A sermon that Prince Harry should heed,' explored the Duke of Sussex’s rift with the rest of the Royal Family.

She blamed Harry’s disposition on the “grievous trauma” he suffered after his mother’s death and infamously walking behind her coffin during her funeral.

“He has found no way to switch off the trauma in his head,” Tilby deduced.

The priest, who knew Harry when he was a young mad, admitted she 'grieved' for him.

Tilby acknowledged that the “sharp criticism” Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have faced been “vulgar and cruel”.

However, she made clear that his current predicament was now largely the result of his own actions.

Regarding his bombshell memoir Spare, Tilby deemed it had only “worsened his alienation from his family”.

Her sermon was also prompted by the duke’s recent BBC interview with the BBC after suffering a bruising legal defeat in the UK.

Tilby believed Harry's recent behaviour could ultimately be traced to his 'grievous trauma'.

Harry was attempting to have a decision that downgraded his taxpayer funded protection detail overturned.

In the interview, Harry claimed that the King “won't speak to me because of this security stuff” and that he did “not know how much longer my father has” - in reference to Charles’ ongoing cancer treatment.

He also dismissed his legal defeat over protection as a “a good old Establishment stitch-up”- which Tilby suggested exposed his “ongoing grief and confusion”.

In his divisive TV appearance, the duke suggested he had “forgiven” the Royal Family over the rift that ultimately led to he and Meghan stepping down as working royals and moving to the US in 2020.

Harry recently appeared in a hugely divisive interview after his UK legal disappointment.

Tilby doubted the sincerity of Harry’s comment, calling it “clearly a qualified forgiveness”.

She advised him to reflect on her words from the pulpit he would have heard as a young man.

“Forgiveness involves not only making peace with the offender, but, eventually and at great cost, giving up the role of victimhood,” she wrote.

Following his legal defeat, the Prince returned to the US and was reunited with his wife Meghan Markle for a "date night".
