Palace insiders point to the absence of any meaningful acknowledgement from the Duke of Sussex regarding the reasons behind his fallout with the monarchy

Prince Harry's bid to build bridges with the Royal Family appears to have been left in tatters as Palace insiders have hit out at Sussexes following Meghan Markle's viral video last week.

A video featuring the Duchess of Sussex twerking in 2021, released to celebrate her daughter Lilibet's fourth birthday on Wednesday, has drawn criticism from royal circles.

Royal insiders expressed dismay at the footage, with one source stating: "This is exactly why Queen Elizabeth knew this whole half-in, half-out version of royalty they were lobbying for was never, ever going to work."

The source added that "Harry and Meghan were a law unto themselves from the start, pushing and pushing the envelope to their own professional and financial advantage."

Another palace insider reflected on the late Queen's prescience, telling the Mail: "Her Late Majesty was nobody's fool and knew that the chances were, it would all end in disaster."

The timing of the video release has reinforced King Charles's decision to maintain distance from his youngest son, with palace sources confirming the "Harry issue" has been "firmly parked to one side for the foreseeable future with no rapprochement in sight."

The contrast between the Sussexes' activities and the working royals' commitments was stark on the day the video emerged.

Prince William was serving breakfast to military personnel in Suffolk, whilst Queen Camilla attended engagements at the Garden Museum highlighting British floriculture before proceeding to a charity event in the City.

The Duchess of Edinburgh spoke at an exhibition addressing sexual violence in conflict zones.

King Charles attended an evening church service alongside Princess Alexandra, 88, having also undergone his regular cancer treatment during another demanding week of royal duties.

Recent suggestions from Harry about reconciliation have been met with scepticism within royal circles, who view such statements as calculated attempts to court public sympathy whilst deflecting from ongoing public relations difficulties.

Palace insiders particularly note the absence of any meaningful acknowledgement from the Duke of Sussex regarding the reasons behind the widespread anger his actions have provoked.

One source observed that Harry's reconciliation talk comes "without any real recognition of why people are so angry at his behaviour, and wary of ever speaking to him again."

The working royals' focus remains firmly on their constitutional duties, with sources indicating that addressing the Sussex situation is not a current priority amidst their demanding schedules and the King's ongoing health challenges.
