Prince Harry will make his UK return next week to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games

Prince Harry has been warned that his dwindling relationship with the Royal Family will leave a "damaged generation" of the monarchy, a commentator has claimed.

The warning comes as the Duke of Sussex returns to the UK for the first time since King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis, to attend a thanksgiving service for the Invictus Games.

Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Helena Chard urged Harry to "mend bridges" with the Royal Family and feared the impact of the rift on the younger generation of royals.

Detailing the Duke's visit to the UK on May 8, Chard said the trip would be a "flying visit", but he will most likely "meet with the King".

However, Chard claimed that Prince Harry will "not meet with Princess Charlotte" or the Wales family, despite her celebrating her ninth birthday today.

Detailing the Invictus Games service, Chard revealed: "I don't think he will meet Princess Charlotte, but he will meet King Charles. It's a fairly flying visit.

"Prince Harry is obviously coming over for the Invictus Games service of Thanksgiving. That's one of the things we can applaud him for, the sporting event. And he'll be doing a reading as well."

During his visit to the UK, Chard suggested that the Duke should "mend bridges" with his family, mainly caused when he and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020.

Chard suggested: "I do think Prince Harry has to mend a few bridges, he's got to do something to show a little bit of willingness. There's been a lot of hurt there."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

She told GB News: "Understandably, King Charles wants to see his darling boy. It's easier to repair that relationship, but I do feel that Prince Harry has to give a little bit more.

"As the children get older, they'll get more curious about their family - why haven't I met my cousins? Why haven't I met my uncle and his wife?"

Chard continued: "Hopefully it will be the children that mend the relationship because obviously they all want to see each other."

"It will be really, really sad for that not to happen. In fact, it will sort of be like a damaged generation, if something doesn't work out. But hopefully, King Charles will also give a little push."

Turning the conversation to Prince Harry's relationship with his brother William and the Wales family, Chard claimed that it "would be lovely" if they were to be reunited during his UK visit, as Princess Charlotte has celebrated her ninth birthday today.

Chard said: "Wouldn't it be lovely if Princess Charlotte could have a lovely hug from her uncle Harry? But it's not going to happen.

"There's no way that Prince William will allow that. Especially at the moment, with Princess Catherine still undergoing treatment."
