The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a bumper deal with Netflix in 2020

Prince Harry is planning a new Netflix project without Meghan Markle, according to an insider.

The Duke of Sussex is making plans to return to Africa without his wife as part of a new documentary.

Harry and Meghan are under pressure to churn out winning content for Netflix after signing a lucrative deal with the streaming giant.

Earlier this month, the Sussexes were dropped by Spotify after Meghan's Archetypes series left executives underwhelmed.

Prince Harry said in 2017 regarding Africa: "This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world.

"I wish I could spend more time in Africa."

A source told the Page Six: "Obviously, Harry has a lot of roots in Africa and he feels at home there."

A Netflix insider confirmed the project was one of a number of ideas that the Duke of Sussex has been discussing.

Harry and Meghan are working on a separate project for Netflix titled Bad Manners.

The Sussexes are working on a new show inspired by Charles Dickens' Great Expectations.

Harry and Meghan are developing the show based on a feminist version of Miss Havisham from Dickens' famous novel according to the Wall Street Journal.

However, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accused of ripping off the idea.

The Sussexes' mooted "feminist" prequel is almost identical to an adaptation made a decade ago, it has been claimed.

Several adaptations have already focused on Miss Havisham's character.

Most recently, award-winning actress Olivia Coleman played Miss Havisham in a 2023 series.

Dr Emily Bell, an English professor and editor of The Dickensian told the Mail: "It’s not necessarily feminist to rehash Miss Havisham's life, and I'd be very concerned this adaptation would fall into the trap of thinking a focus on this iconic character is inherently feminist – or somehow it's doing more than Dickens in fleshing out a backstory that engages the viewer in the same voyeuristic misery again."
