The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have suffered several setbacks in 2023

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are seeking "redemption" as they ramp up a major plan, a source close to the couple has claimed.

This comes as the couple suffered several setbacks in 2023, including their Spotify contract being dropped, a "near-catastrophic car chase" in New York and an £8.7million drop in donations to their Archewell Foundation.

A source close to the couple said that "Harry and Meghan think 2024 will be the year of redemption".

Another source told US Weekly that the Sussexes were "in extremely high demand".

There have also been reports about the duke and duchess potentially leaving Montecito for the more glamorous celebrity hub, Los Angeles.

Meghan, 42, and Harry, 39, could be gearing up for a major plan, as they prepare to announce a new commercial venture for 2024.

The duchess also teased new projects during last month's "Power of Women" gala in Los Angeles.

As she walked the red carpet, the duchess said she and Prince Harry "have so many exciting things on the slate".

"I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating.

"My husband is loving it too, which is really fun," she added.

The mother-of-two said she was "thrilled" to have returned to the entertainment industry.

Before marrying the Duke of Sussex in 2018, Meghan starred in the legal drama Suits.

The show, which aired its last episodes in 2019, has recently enjoyed a resurgence after being added to Netflix in the US in July.

The couple’s Netflix contributions include the six-part docuseries, Harry & Meghan, released in December 2022.

After the series was broadcast, it was reported that the couple did not want to star in any more of their content, but would instead focus on their work behind the scenes as executive producers.

The Duchess of Sussex returned to acting this week with a role in a new advert for Clevr Blends, an oat latte brand based in California.
