The Duke of Sussex established Travalyst seven years ago

Prince Harry joined Travalyst's Annual Partner Convening in Berlin remotely on Tuesday, making a surprise virtual appearance at the sustainable travel organisation's gathering.

The Duke of Sussex connected with members of the coalition's industry partners, Board, and Independent Advisory Group during the event.

A Travalyst spokesman confirmed to the Express that Harry spoke about the organisation's accomplishments over recent months.

The duke also addressed the significance of collective action in transforming the travel sector into a positive environmental force.

His appearance came shortly after returning from a trip to Jordan with his wife, Meghan Markle, last week.

Harry established Travalyst seven years ago, with the intention of transforming how people explore the world.

The not-for-profit organisation seeks to ensure that cultures, destinations, and wildlife remain protected for future generations.

Its coalition brings together major players in the travel and technology sectors, with Google, Booking.com, and Expedia among its partners.

The initiative aims to provide travellers with transparent, consistent sustainability information, enabling them to make more environmentally conscious choices.

When launching the project in 2019, Harry stated: "If conducted responsibly, tourism can benefit communities for generations.

"It can build schools, create jobs, strengthen safety nets - and it can create a virtuous cycle, as communities protect what promotes further tourism."

The discussion at the Berlin convening explored the numerous benefits that travel and tourism can deliver, according to the Travalyst spokesman.

Attendees also shared their aspirations for steering the industry towards greater sustainability and resilience throughout 2026 and the years ahead.

Harry emphasised during his remarks that working together remains essential to driving meaningful change within the sector.

The spokesman noted that conversations touched on how collaborative efforts could help transform travel into a genuine force for good.

The gathering brought together representatives committed to ensuring the tourism industry develops in ways that benefit both the environment and local communities worldwide.

Despite championing sustainable travel, Harry has faced criticism in the past over his and Meghan's use of private jets.

The duke has previously defended himself against such accusations, acknowledging that "no one is perfect" and stressing that "balance" is what truly matters.

His involvement with the environmental initiative has drawn scrutiny, given the carbon footprint associated with private aviation.

Nevertheless, Harry has remained committed to Travalyst's mission since founding it in 2019.

The organisation continues its work to ensure tourism benefits communities while protecting the natural world and cultural heritage for generations to come.
