His efforts yielded no progress with the Prince of Wales, Omid Scobie has claimed

The fractured bond between Prince Harry and Prince William remains exactly where it stood three years ago, royal author Omid Scobie has claimed.

Mr Scobie published his debut novel, Royal Spin, last month, and previously covered the Royal Family in his books Finding Freedom and Endgame.

The author said that in 2023: "Harry was still waiting for that moment of accountability from his brother — an opportunity to talk about many of the grievances that have built up to this point and be able to move on from that."

Mr Scobie has claimed the situation remains identical in 2026.

He stated: "Nothing has changed. The expectations and wants and wishes of Prince Harry are exactly the same as they were then — and none of them have been met."

The author claimed that Harry made "repeated attempts" to contact his elder brother, reaching out both directly and "through mutual friends and individuals that they both deem important in their lives."

However, these efforts yielded no progress with the Prince of Wales, according to the author.

Mr Scobie noted a stark contrast when comparing Harry's relationship with their father.

"I have recently seen what I call some moments of warmth between Harry and his father, King Charles," he continued to tell People, adding pointedly that "that hasn't happened with William."

Mr Scobie claimed: "The ball has been in William's court for some time now. And he's chosen not just to knock it back, but to kick it in the other direction."

The author characterised the heir to the throne as "avoiding dealing with this matter whatsoever."

A different perspective has emerged from Russell Myers' forthcoming book, William and Catherine: The Monarchy's New Era: The Inside Story, due out on March 10.

Mr Myers claimed that William "felt betrayed" by his brother, particularly following the publication of Harry's memoir Spare.

A source close to William told Mr Myers: "At first, he was incredibly angry. The situation had spiralled out of control, but the book reinforced his view that [Harry] was not to be trusted. [William] was incredibly let down and immensely sad, but in a way it made him more determined to rally around his own family and his father."

The source added that William now focuses on "the things you can have an effect on."

Kensington Palace has not publicly commented on the brothers' relationship, and William has rarely spoken about the dispute since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

Tensions between the brothers escalated following the Duke of Sussex’s interviews and the publication of his memoir Spare in 2023.
