The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the US in 2020 after stepping down as working royals

Prince Harry appears to have let slip his plan to have Archie and Lilibet schooled in the UK during a recent chat with singer Joss Stone.

The Duke of Sussex and Ms Stone discussed their children during a catch-up at the WellChild Awards in London.

Prince Harry also quizzed the singer on her recent move from the US to the UK amid speculation the royal is considering returning to the country of his birth.

Ms Stone told People: "He also asked about how we were settling back in and was genuinely interested in our move home.

“He’s just very warm and down to earth, as always. Maybe Harry will move back too. That would be nice.”

She continued: "He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children.

"It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back – for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends and a strong sense of belonging and most importantly in a safe environment."

It comes as a source claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in negotiations over Archie and Lilibet’s schooling.

The Duke of Sussex wants his children to be educated in the UK, while Meghan Markle is thought to be against sending the young royals to boarding school.

One insider claimed that the Duchess of Sussex feels sending their children to boarding schools would be “barbaric”.

King Charles is said to support the idea of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet being educated in the UK.

A source told the Mail: “There is still some negotiation for Harry to have with Meghan. The King, however, is delighted.”

The Duke of Sussex may have discussed the idea with his father during their face-to-face meeting at Clarence House last week.

During an interview last week, Prince Harry admitted he wants to bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to the UK in a U-turn from his previous position.

Prince Harry told the Guardian regarding the prospect of bringing his children to the country of his birth: “I would. This week has definitely brought that closer.”

However, as recently as May 2025, the Duke of Sussex told the BBC: “(I) can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point".
