Prince George’s shopping trip with Carole Middleton was revealed during a heartwarming exchange during a royal engagement.

A chance encounter at an interior design shop revealed a charming glimpse into Prince George's outings with his maternal grandmother, Carole Middleton.

Sally Pellow, 64, shared her unexpected sighting of the young royal during a visit to collect wallpaper samples at a local shop in the Ascot area.

"I had popped in to pick up some wallpaper samples and Prince George had gone in with his granny, Carole Middleton," Mrs Pellow recounted. "He was beautifully dressed and sitting at a desk eating bits of orange."

The encounter took place approximately five years before Mrs Pellow shared her story publicly on a royal engagement.

This anecdote came to light when the Prince and Princess of Wales attended a royal engagement in Sunningdale, Ascot, meeting Women's Institute members during an event commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth II's passing.

Mrs Pellow, who had previously served Kate at a French Connection outlet in Reading, shared her recollection during this gathering.

The WI group remarked on George's composed public manner, prompting William to quip that whilst his son understood proper public conduct, "behind closed doors it's a completely different ball game".

Carole and Michael Middleton have long been hands-on grandparents, frequently assisting with childcare alongside the family's nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, especially during overseas royal tours.

It comes as Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, the dedicated nanny who has cared for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis since 2014, has been honoured with a Royal Victorian Medal (Silver) in the New Year Honours list published yesterday.

The Spanish-born childcare expert, who completed her training at the renowned Norland College, has spent more than a decade serving the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Her recognition comes alongside other members of the royal household staff who received honours for their devoted service.

The couple has maintained strict privacy around their nanny's role, with their sole public statement on the matter confirming her appointment.

"We will not be giving further details on Maria or her employment, except to say that the duke and duchess are of course delighted she has chosen to join them," the announcement read.

Despite typically avoiding the spotlight, Maria Teresa has been pictured at several significant family occasions over the years.
