A new move involving Prince Edward and Princess Beatrice was approved by King Charles as part of a quiet negotiation with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, according to new claims.
The arrangement forms a key element of the discussions that followed Andrew’s recent loss of his remaining royal titles and honours.
The agreement allows Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to take on new official responsibilities within the monarchy.
Evidence of this understanding materialised last Friday when Princess Beatrice received an appointment as Deputy Patron of Outward Bound.

The charity holds strong connections to the Royal Family, with Prince Philip serving as its figurehead for 65 years before Andrew assumed patronage.
Prince Edward now holds the role of Royal Patron, with both appointments receiving the endorsement of King Charles.
The announcement of these positions coincided with a supporters' gathering at St James's Palace, where the Duke of Edinburgh hosted attendees and Princess Beatrice participated.

The organisation focuses on utilising outdoor adventures to assist young people in fulfilling their capabilities through educational experiences, challenges and exploration in natural environments.

Additionally, Beatrice continues as one of seven Counsellors of State, legally authorised to deputise for the monarch during temporary illness or overseas travel.
The understanding explicitly stated that no measures would be taken against either princess.

Sources indicate this formed part of negotiations when Andrew relinquished his Windsor residence, Royal Lodge, where he possessed legal occupancy rights until 2078.
Princess Beatrice's charitable activities extend beyond Outward Bound. On Monday, she toured Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to examine research facilities operated by Borne, an organisation dedicated to preventing premature births.
The princess serves as patron of Borne, having personal experience after her daughter Athena arrived prematurely at the West London hospital.
Royal sources suggest additional public appearances by both princesses will follow, with the monarch's blessing.
A Palace insider told the Mail: "It is, perhaps, one of the few things that His Majesty and Andrew agree on. They both love Beatrice and Eugenie and want the best for them. They also agree that the princesses can play an important, helpful role in public life."
