Prince Andrew is secretly helping Prince Edward ahead of his debut at a major event, sources have claimed.

The Duke of Edinburgh is set to appear at Trooping the Colour on horseback, as opposed to in a carriage like he did in previous years.

Prince Edward, 60, and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, 59, will both be attending the ceremony to support King Charles III.

This will be the monarch's second Trooping the Colour of his reign, but his first since announcing he was diagnosed with cancer.

Earlier this year, the Duke of Edinburgh was appointed the new colonel of the Scots Guards.

He took over the position from the Duke of Kent, who had held the role of colonel since 1974.

As part of this role, Prince Edward will be on horseback and wearing bearskin and the full military regalia.

According to sources in The Mail, Prince Edward has been discreetly rehearsing with his brother Prince Andrew for the occasion.

The Duke of York, who has not appeared at Trooping the Colour since 2019, is thought to be providing practical training in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle for his younger brother.

Andrew, briefly colonel of the Grenadiers, took part in two Troopings in 2018 and 2019.

However, the duke had to undergo intensive preparation for his time in the saddle, despite having a previous career in the navy.

In 2019, Prince Andrew stepped down as a working royal following his disastrous Newsnight interview.

The father-of-two had discussed his friendship with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, which forced him to step away from public life.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a General Election for July 4, meaning the Royal Family have cancelled all their upcoming engagements.

However, nothing has yet been announced regarding Trooping the Colour being rescheduled, therefore it is likely the event could still go ahead.

Prince William will be in attendance to support his father, but without his wife Princess Kate, who began a course of preventative chemotherapy earlier this year.
