Prince Andrew has broken cover for the first time since the new Netflix film 'Scoop' was released today.

The Duke of York, 64, was pictured horse-riding near his home the Royal Lodge in Windsor, hours after Scoop landed on the streaming platform.

The film, which stars Rufus Sewell as the Duke of York, reenacted Andrew's career-ending Newsnight interview from 2019.

During the interview, the duke famously discussed his connections with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

The backlash from the interview resulted in Prince Andrew stepping down from royal duties for the foreseeable future.

The film has so far received mostly positive reviews, which also stars Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis and Billie Piper as producer Sam McAlister.

The Royal Family have so far not publicly commented on the Netflix film, which also includes a depiction of Princess Beatrice, 35.

The Princess of York was present during one of the negotiations between Andrew, Maitlis and McAlister at Buckingham Palace.

Despite the embarrassment, Andrew appeared in good spirits this morning.

The duke was smiling broadly as he went for a ride in the grounds of Windsor Castle with a female companion.

Scoop is based on McAlister's memoir, which documents the "high-stakes negotiations with Buckingham Palace through to the BBC's headline-making interview with the Duke of York."

During the interview which aired in November 2019, Andrew declined to say he regretted his association with Epstein.

He memorably recalled a visit to Pizza Express and claimed he was medically unable to sweat.

In the year before the disastrous interview, the royal carried out a total of 394 engagements, more than his nephew Prince William.

Andrew's main tasks included promoting British businesses abroad as well as receiving foreign dignitaries visiting the UK on behalf of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Days after the interview, Andrew sensationally quit public life "for the foreseeable future".

In a statement, approved by the late monarch, he said it had "become clear" to him that his “former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work".

He expressed sympathy for the victims of the convicted sex offender, saying he "hoped they could rebuild their lives".

Andrew now only makes fleeting appearances at royal events on public family occasions.

He was not even included in the official wedding photos between Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020.
