Princess Kate is set to play a major role in the upcoming State Visit of US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

Following the announcement of her involvement, the American presidential couple have expressed their delight, according to an insider in their camp.

On the first full day of proceedings, Wednesday, September 17, Kate and Prince William will be the first to welcome the US leader and First Lady to the grounds of Windsor Castle.

They will then escort the visiting Americans to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla for an extensive outdoor welcome ceremony.

The Princess and Prince of Wales will then join Mr and Mrs Trump and the King and Queen in a carriage procession through the Windsor estate, towards the Castle.

She will then host the Trumps for luncheon and accompany them to view pieces from the Royal Collection.

In the evening, Kate and William will also be present at the State Banquet hosted on behalf of the US guests at Windsor Castle.

The following day, while Mr Trump meets with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, Kate will undertake a rare joint engagement at Frogmore Gardens with the First Lady.

While there, Kate and Mrs Trump will observe a demonstration by the Scouts' Squirrels programme.

The Princess of Wales has been Joint President of the Scout Association since 2020.

Kate’s central role during the State Visit has apparently been warmly welcomed by the Trumps.

"The President and First Lady are thrilled that the Princess of Wales will play such a prominent role in their visit," an insider in the Trump camp revealed.

"The inclusion of Princess Kate in so many events during the state visit is an honour," the source told the Daily Mail.

Both Mr and Mrs Trump were said to have "very much hoped she would be part of their visit" ahead of her appearance being confirmed.

The two-day visit, beginning on the evening of Tuesday, September 16, marks an unprecedented diplomatic gesture for the US President.

Mr Trump was previously hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2019, making his upcoming visit the first time a US president has been treated to two such honours.

In one of their first activities, the presidential couple have arranged to pay their respects privately at Queen Elizabeth II's burial site in St George's Chapel, where they will lay a wreath.

The diplomatic programme also includes viewing historical artefacts from Sir Winston Churchill's personal collection, supplied by the National Trust from Chartwell House.

Mr Trump and Sir Keir’s meeting at Chequers will cover a range of topics affecting both Britain and the US.

Both leaders will oversee a business reception featuring major British and American corporations, including GSK, Microsoft and Rolls-Royce, culminating in the formal signing of a technology partnership agreement.
