The pair attended Mike Tindall's esteemed charity golf day

Mike Tindall dished out a cheeky dig at Premier League legend John Terry on social media yesterday.

The pair attended the ISPS Handa Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic annual charity day this weekend at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield.

Alongside Terry, Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt, Westlife singer Brian McFadden and Boyzone drummer Keith Duffy, now a duo under the name Boyzlife, were among the stars that turned up for the event.

But it was the Chelsea icon who took home the plaudits and was the brunt of a light-hearted jibe from Mike Tindall.

The former rugby pro posted a picture of the pair with their arms around each other, as Terry picked up the weekend's special award.

"@johnterry.26 with his greatest ever sporting achievement…. Winning a prize at the golf day!" the caption read.

Former Olympic swimmer for Team GB, Mark Foster, commented, seemingly in rebuttal of the award, demanding: "He won again...we need VAR on these golf days!!!"

Mike's comedic dig at one of England's most decorated players certainly carries a strong sense of irony.

During his illustrious 20-year footballing career, Terry picked up an astonishing 18 major trophies, including five Premier League titles and a Champions League winners' medal to boot.

The centre-back was unable to reach the ultimate glory of victory with England. Mike, however, was able to do so when he one the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

But this weekend's event was not about individual accolades, even for serial winners like Terry.

The event helped raise vital funds for two charities: Cure Parkinson's and The Matt Hampson Foundation.

Guests and celebrities teamed up for an 18-hole competitive round of golf and fun side activities like giant inflatable golf darts at select holes.

Mike could be seen sporting a matching mint green polo with his wife, Zara Tindall, though he paired it with a characteristically, and rather controversial, bold pair of golfing trousers in various shades of block green.

The former rugby international is renowned for his eye-catching trouser choices at his annual fundraising event.

But the former rugby star switched daring for dashing as the evening approached, which saw a late reception, dinner, live entertainment, and high-profile silent and live auctions to drive up fundraising totals.

Mike wore a black velvet dinner jacket teamed with a crisp white shirt and black trousers.

Zara, meanwhile, stunned in a navy blue mini dress featuring sparkling embellishments along the neckline.

She completed the elegant look with silver pointed-toe stilettos that showcased her toned legs.
