Meghan Markle has no affection for Britain and a reunion between the Duchess of Sussex and King Charles will not be straightforward, according to a royal commentator.
The Duchess has not returned to Britain since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.
Archie and Lilibet’s last appearance in the UK came earlier that year when the Royal Family were celebrating the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
King Charles has only met his granddaughter, Princess Lilibet, once when she was six months old.

The Duke of Sussex has made many solo trips to the UK over the last three years while Meghan, Archie and Lilibet have remained in the US.
However, Prince Harry looks set to receive additional protection for himself and his family with a review ongoing whether the current provision is inadequate for the level of risk posed to the Sussexes.
Additional security provision for when Meghan is in the UK would “open the door” to a return to Britain for the Duchess of Sussex but it is not the only hurdle in the way of a reunion with the Royal Family, according to Richard Fitzwilliams.
He told GB News: “It would open the door, but if you look at the polls, her (Meghan’s) ratings are absolutely terrible. She is not popular with the British public.

“Then there is the case that she does not appear to have any affection for Britain. That has never manifested itself.
“I cannot see Meghan coming to Britain before the Invictus Games because what would she do and why would she come?
“It is not going to be as simple as turning up and seeing King Charles.”

Harry founded the Invictus Games over a decade ago, while still a working member of the Royal Family.
The first Invictus Games were held in London in 2014, and the Duke of Sussex hosted an anniversary event to mark the occasion in 2024 at St Paul's Cathedral.
No members of the Royal Family attended the anniversary event but the Invictus Games taking place in Birmingham could see UK-based royals attending the competition.
Birmingham was chosen over DC, Washington, on the final two destination shortlist in a choice between the UK and the US as the hosting nation.
Prince Harry said in a statement regarding the decision: "Congratulations to Birmingham, UK, on winning the bid to host the Invictus Games 2027.
"Your city’s strong ties to the Armed Forces community made it a formidable contender from the very start.
"Over the years, we’ve seen each city bring a unique spirit and vision to life for competitors, their families, and spectators.
"We have no doubt the people of Birmingham will join in celebrating the unwavering respect and admiration we have for our veteran and service community, showing the world how their courage ignites hope and unites us all—something your city knows well."
