Meghan Markle's fashion choices were defended during her recent Canada trip, which she took with her husband Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex was reported to have worn £8,000 of new clothes during the first 12 hours of her visit.

Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, were in Canada last week to promote the upcoming Invictus Games, which is being held in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia in 2025.

During the duchess's visit to the Hillcrest Community Centre, she wore a Bleusalt camel jumper underneath a Sentaler coat.

A social media user wrote on Instagram: "Who paid for this luxury?"

Bleusalt's social media team defended the former Suits actress, replying: "Meghan actually buys it.

"She doesn't have a stylist just FYI [for your information]."

Meghan's fans took to X to defend the former working royal for her fashion choices.

One said: "Don't forget the most important part - she pays for it herself."

Another added: "You know she's a woman with great taste if she can curate her own clothes without anyone's help.

"What else can you expect from The Tig creator?"

Similarly, someone posted: "Oh nice. It's also been reported that she doesn't travel with a hairdresser to the Invictus Games and does her own hair."

Meghan quit royal duties in 2020 and now lives in the US with Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now financially independent and receive no taxpayer money because they are not working royals.
