The couple's absence continues a pattern established since 2022

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been excluded from King Charles's birthday parade for the third consecutive year.

No invitation was extended to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for Saturday's Trooping the Colour ceremony, according to reports in People.

The couple's absence continues a pattern established since Charles ascended to the throne in 2022, marking another year without their participation in one of the monarchy's most prominent annual events.

Their last appearance at the traditional celebration was during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, where they were notably separated from working royals and excluded from the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.

The Duke of Sussex revealed in a recent BBC interview that he cannot bring his wife and children to Britain under current circumstances, stating: "I can't see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point."

Harry disclosed that his father refuses to communicate with him over ongoing security disputes, explaining: "He won't speak to me because of this security stuff."

The 40-year-old prince lost a legal challenge last month to restore his state-funded protection in the UK, which he maintains was unfairly removed when he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020.

The couple attended Trooping the Colour twice following their 2018 wedding, participating in the carriage procession and making balcony appearances in both 2018 and 2019.

The event was scaled back in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic before returning to full scale in 2022.

Prince Archie, now six, was just weeks old during his parents' final Trooping appearance in 2019, whilst Princess Lilibet, four, was born in California after the couple relocated.

Neither child has attended the ceremony, though both travelled to the UK for the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations, marking their only visit to Britain since their parents' departure from royal duties.

Despite the ongoing silence, Harry expressed hope for reconciliation with his family, telling the BBC: "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore."

The prince acknowledged his father's mortality, stating: "Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has.

"He won't speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile."

Harry also revealed his sadness about being unable to share his homeland with his children, saying: "I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK, of course I do.

"I think that it's really quite sad that I won't be able to show my children my homeland."
