The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not made an official comment on Kate's photo blunder

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would have been annihilated if they made the same blunder as the Princess of Wales, according to a source close to the couple.

On Sunday, Kensington Palace released the first official photo of Kate since her abdominal surgery in January 2024.

The Princess of Wales was beaming in the picture alongside her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The picture was taken by Prince William and distributed by international photo agencies around the globe.

However, just over 24 hours after the picture was released, Princess Kate issued an official apology for editing the photograph.

Sources close to Meghan and Harry have claimed the incident shows the royal couples are treated differently, according to Page Six.

They said: "If Harry and Meghan had ever encountered the same issue they would have been annihilated.

"The same rules do not apply to both couples.

"This isn’t a mistake that Meghan would ever make … she has a keen eye and freakish attention to detail."
