The Duke of Sussex is travelling to the UK today to be with his father King Charles following cancer diagnosis

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s home has been hit with flood warnings as LA firefighters launch rescue operations in California.

The Pineapple Express, a severe storm, is hovering over much of California and causing chaos over regions including Beverly Hills, Malibu and Montecito.

Harry and Meghan are amongst a number of celebrities whose homes are in danger including George Clooney, Lady Gaga and Halle Berry.

In the early hours of Monday morning, LA firefighters rescued 16 people from nine buildings in Studio City- an expensive and luxurious neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s £11.6 million Montecito mansion is under flood watch for the next 24 hours as their surrounding county, Santa Barbara, is flooded with rain.

Prince Harry is currently travelling to the UK to be with his father following the King’s cancer announcement leaving Meghan and their children in the US.

The Pineapple Express storm is the second to hit the West Coast in less than a week as Southern California experienced heavy rainfall and mudslides yesterday.

At least three people were killed by falling trees on Sunday- one 82-year-old-man from Yuba City and a 45-year-old man from Boulder Creek. Another person was killed in the Sacramento Valley.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reported that more than 25cm of rain has fallen from Sunday around Los Angeles and more is expected to come.

Ariel Cohen, chief NWS meteorologist stated: “We're talking about one of the wettest storm systems to impact the greater Los Angeles area.

"Going back to the 1870s, this is one of the top three."

After leaving Frogmore Cottage in the UK, Meghan and Harry moved to a glamorous home in Montecito in 2020.
