Photographer Misan Harriman has hit back at claims that he had edited a large tree into the back drop of a photo of the Sussexes

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's photographer has shared proof that he did not edit a large tree into the back drop of a picture of the Sussexes.

A 2021 Valentine’s Day image announcing Meghan’s pregnancy with Princess Lilibet had been accused of being heavily edited.

Multiple outlets cited an interview given by the photographer in 2022 as proof that the giant tree was added by the Harriman.

During an interview on BBC Radio 3 podcast Private Passions in 2022, Harriman said regarding the picture: “It’s amazing what you can do with technology.”

However, today Harriman has issued a scathing slap down against claims that he edited in a giant willow tree to the photograph.

And a few hours later shared the original photo of Harry and Meghan prior to any editing which included the tree in the background.

He wrote on X: "No trees or meadows were moved or swapped, this is the the image straight out the camera."

The duke and duchess have previously had a picture put on a “kill list” by a photo agency.

Harry and Meghan's 2019 Christmas card photo featuring Prince Archie was recalled by the PA agency.

It is thought that the recall was because of uncertainty as to where the photo came from.

The couple’s representatives later confirmed its authenticity, and any editing was denied by Meghan’s pal Janina Gavankar, who took the photo.

It is not suggested the duke and duchess personally edited any of the photos.

Prince Harry has also been accused of having more hair in some pictures than he does in real life.

The pair’s Time Magazine cover in 2021 was branded by one critic as “the most airbrushed photo I have ever seen”.

Another joked: “How nice they gave Haz lots of new hair. Maybe he is a hair-growth influencer.”

It comes as the Princess of Wales apologised for editing her Mother’s Day family photo earlier this week.

She wrote on X: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.

"I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."

An official spokesman for the Sussexes has denied making any comment about Kate’s Mother's Day picture.
