Meghan Markle and Prince Harry faced Coronation chaos over an invite from King Charles, a royal author has claimed.
According to Omid Scobie, whose book Endgame was released in Australia today, King Charles was "stubbornly hard to pin down" over whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be invited to the Coronation.
Prince Harry attended the ceremony in May on his own, while Meghan remained in Montecito.
The duke attended the service in Westminster Abbey but then quickly returned to the US for his son Prince Archie's fourth birthday.

Scobie suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were unsure for months whether or not they would be invited.
Prince Harry even called his father on the phone in February to enquire, the author claimed.
However, the monarch told his son: "I... haven't decided."
Scobie added that while Harry had an "extensive list of reasons for skipping the proceedings altogether", he believed supporting his father "still outweighed other things".

PAThe 39-year-old attended the ceremony wearing a suit with medals pinned to his chest, after being told he would not be allowed to wear his military uniform.
However, Scobie pointed out that Prince Andrew, who is also no longer a working royal, could be seen wearing his Order of the Garter ceremonial robes.
The Duke of Sussex could be seen laughing and smiling as he entered the church alongside Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and their respective husbands Jack Brooksbank and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
He sat next to his cousins, two rows behind Prince William and Princess Kate, who were with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and also Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

PAPrince Harry was reportedly invited to lunch at Buckingham Palace after the service but he chose to return to California instead.
Before the Coronation, the duke announced he would be travelling to the UK without his wife, who was remaining in California to look after Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
