Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's return to the UK for the Christmas period has been ruled out by a royal commentator.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spent the last three festive periods away from the UK.

The couple were evicted from their UK base, Frogmore Cottage, by King Charles earlier this year.

Meghan and Harry have currently not secured a new home in Britain and the Duchess of Sussex has not travelled to the UK since September 2022.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the eviction from Frogmore Cottage means the couple will not return to the UK for Christmas this year.

Fitzwilliams said: "I suspect there is a mixture of emotions there. That will certainly not change now.

"They have no base in Britain, things have reached that stage, it is not good.

"The rift means there is no such possibility at the moment."

GB News understands that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not received an invite to spend Christmas with the Royal Family.

A source close to the Sussexes told GB News there has been no invite received for the festive celebrations.

This week Prince Harry disputed claims that he turned down an invitation to King Charles's 75th birthday celebration.

The King turns 75 on Tuesday, November 14 and it looks likely that Harry will not attend the celebration.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex responded to a story in the Sunday Times that claimed the couple had snubbed the King.

The spokesperson said: "In response to UK media headlines, there has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday.

"It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story."
