Lemonada Media is set to be acquired by a Swedish podcast group

Meghan Markle could be dealt another blow as the production company behind her latest podcast prepares for a significant transition.

Earlier this year, the Duchess of Sussex launched Confessions of a Female Founder, her second podcasting venture following 2022’s Archetypes.

The series, which debuted in April, featured conversations with female entrepreneurs who shared their personal stories and experiences of building a business.

Produced by Lemonada Media, rather than Spotify like her previous project, Confessions was billed as a space for honest discussions and practical advice for aspiring founders.

But according to Page Six, Lemonada Media is now set to be acquired by Swedish podcast group PodX, sparking uncertainty around the future direction of the company.

Lemonada, which is based in Minnesota, was co-founded in 2019 by Jessica Cordova Kramer and Stephanie Wittels Wachs.

In a statement at the time, the pair said the company was created following “the devastating loss of our brothers”.

In a May report, Variety described Lemonada’s mission as “simple yet salient: to make life suck less,” quoting the co-founders.

The company has built a wide-ranging portfolio, including more than 50 original series and close to 40 partner shows.

Alongside Meghan’s podcast, its slate includes Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and The Sarah Silverman Podcast.

PodX, founded in 2021 and forms part of Sweden-based investment firm Qarlbo, has been steadily acquiring podcast production companies around the world.

Its current stable includes Nouvelles Écoutes and Studio Minuit in France, Posta in Argentina, and UK-based Goldhawk Productions, Listen, and Platform Media.

Meghan confirmed that her podcast series, which premiered on April 8 via Lemonada Media, is currently on pause

Despite the potential changes, Meghan, 43, is now focused on developing her lifestyle brand As Ever and spending time with her two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

She made the announcement during an appearance on Emma Grede's "Aspire" podcast, stating: "I love that there's so much excitement and desire for a second season, but I need to focus on my business."

Meghan added: "I would love to bring the show back when I am at a different end of my founder journey.

"When I've gone through Q4 and say, ‘Here are my proof points... wow, what a year it's been.’ Or even longer than that. I think a different time will be so exciting to compare and contrast."
