The Duchess of Sussex is thought to have interviewed several candidates

Meghan Markle has not yet recruited a new CEO her cooking and lifestyle business, American Riviera Orchard - despite beginning the search five weeks ago.

The Duchess of Sussex is thought to have interviewed several candidates but has failed to select a new Chief Executive Officer, according to sources.

Meghan has recently announced a new lifestyle brand with its first release, strawberry jam, said to be made using fruit grown in her home garden.

Sending out a limited release of 50 jars to friends and American influencers, the product was shared on Instagram by the recipients, who heaped praise on the jam.

"The initial CEO search has not panned out so far," a California-based source told the Daily Mail.

However, her difficulties come as she reportedly begins negotiations with Netflix about a commercial partnership with American Riviera Orchard.

"This is something new for Netflix," the source added.

"It would run the lifestyle business with Meghan, developing products as spin-offs from her show. If a partnership is agreed, it's likely that Netflix would install its own CEO to run operations."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

The deal is expected to be similar to a partnership between American television stars Chip and Joanna Gaines and HGTV/Warner Brothers for their Magnolia Network.

The husband and wife host a home renovation show, Fixer Upper, and sell lifestyle products.

An insider said: "The brand is meant to coincide with the launch of a new cookery show for Netflix.

"Meghan will be making and selling products such as jams. At some point there will be a book and a blog."

Meghan's lawyers have applied to trademark the brand in the US for various goods.

These include cutlery, recipe books, tablecloths, napkins, jams, edible oils, and vegetable and dairy-based spreads.
