Meghan marked the United States's Independence from Britain with a solo project

Meghan Markle marked the Fourth of July in the US by sharing a glimpse into her family's celebrations through a video posted on her As Ever Instagram account.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was filmed assembling a patriotic charcuterie board featuring in two videos, posted to both her main account and that of her As Ever lifestyle brand.

The American themed presentation featured watermelon, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and star-shaped cheese arranged to resemble the American flag's colours.

In the first video, Meghan could be seen hopping from one leg to another as she prepared to begin filming.

"Simply Entertaining, Happy 4th of July," flashed on the screen in Meghan's handwriting as the assembling of ingredients began.

The video, set to a simple acoustic track, showed Meghan at work as she prepared the patriotic dish.

She was shown using her, once again out of stock, raspberry spread before accidentally dropping a raspberry into it.

Meghan then giggled as she popped the rogue fruit into her mouth.

Captioning the post, the Duchess wrote: "Red, white and blue and easy to do! Happy 4th, friends Be safe, have fun."

The second video featured a timelapse of the charcuterie flag set to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by The Andrews Sisters.

The Fourth of July, which celebrates the United States's independence from Britain, holds special significance for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, marking the anniversary of their second date in 2016.

Prince Harry revealed in his memoir Spare that he brought "red, white and blue cupcakes, to be exact" to their meeting, adding: "I said something about the Brits having a very different view of Independence Day from the Yanks, but, oh, well."

Meghan arrived wearing "a pretty blue sundress with white pinstripes" for the occasion.

Harry recalled in his memoir how their first date took place at Soho House in London during one of Meghan's visits to the UK.

Following their Independence Day meeting, both agreed to pursue their relationship seriously despite the challenges of long-distance dating.

In her video, Meghan was wearing a £575 Ralph Lauren striped 'Capri' shirt in blue and white stripes, which may have been a reference to her second date with Harry.

Princess Kate sported a similar shirt to Meghan's in the video just days earlier, which the Duchess had previously worn Wimbledon in 2018.

However, eagle eyed royal fans were also quick to point out that the Duchess had previously worn the shirt during an appearance at Wimbledon in 2018 alongside Princess Kate.

The Princess of Wales herself made headlines this week as she stepped out in the exact same shirt, but in tan, during her visit to Colchester Hospital.

While there, she spoke candidly about her health journey and the need for people who had been through cancer to establish a "new normal".
