The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced criticism for hypocrisy over their carbon footprint

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves once again in hot water after being photographed on an exclusive Caribbean island after a flight in their private jet.

The couple, who are outspoken environmentalists, were seen vacationing alone on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines, home to the Glossy Bay marina for hosting superyachts.

Many have questioned the necessity of the couple’s globetrotting and whether it undermines their message of greater environmental responsibility.

Indeed, despite his travel habits, Harry founded the not-for-profit, environmentally friendly travel company Travalyst in 2019.

GB News’ Nana Akua discussed the couple’s latest excursion with presenter Mark Dolan on Tuesday’s GB News Tonight, saying “they're at it again aren't they?”

“To be honest, I'm actually quite happy to see them holding hands, looking happy and not whingeing. I'm fed up of listening to their whingeing. So finally they're holding hands. They look like they want to be around each other. That's great.”

“It just keeps coming back to me that the moment I decided that I’d had enough of the pair was when Megan and Harry were banging on about climate change and explaining how they're going to offset their carbon.”

“And we all know that carbon offsetting is sort of a bit of a scam, really. It's not real and we know that.“

Nana isn’t the only person to have clocked on to the Sussexes’ apparent hypocrisy over their growing carbon footprint.

Recent reports revealed that in May, while attending a mental health festival in New York, the couple travelled with a seven-car convoy of SUVs for a journey which would total only 200 feet.

Additionally, in 2022 it was reported that Prince Harry had travelled to a polo tournament in his private jet, with his kit transported in a separate car.

This incident came just a month after Harry addressed the UN to say climate change was “wreaking havoc on our planet, with the most vulnerable suffering most of all”.

Caribbean island Canouan is a popular choice with Hollywood stars and other social elite, often referred to as ‘where billionaires get away from millionaires.’

Nana said: “This island is known to have people like Leonardo DiCaprio coming to it. And there they are on this private jet, going to the exclusive island.

“I’m glad they're happy. It's nice to see them holding hands and being friendly, but frankly, I don't want to hear another word from them about climate change.”

Mark rounded off, joking “That's exactly right! They've got more air miles than the Wright brothers.”
