The Princess made her first public appearance in the UK on Monday after her father, Andrew, had his royal titles removed

Love Island star Malin Andersson revealed she was “honoured to meet Princess Beatrice” as she attended a Borne charity event.

Princess Beatrice is a patron for Borne, which is a charity that focuses on research aiming to prevent premature births.

The charity holds a special place in Beatrice’s life as her daughter, Athena Mapelli Mozzi, was born several weeks early in January, weighing just four pounds and five ounces.

Andersson took to social media to pay tribute to the Princess as well as highlighting the important work Borne has been doing, she said: “Last night was a reminder of why these conversations matter.

“Thank you @bornecharity for bringing us together to raise awareness around prematuity and women’s health.”

“An honour to meet Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and to be part of such a heartfelt evening.”

She continued in a separate post, saying: “Every year, around 1 in 10 babies are born prematurely before 37 weeks of pregnancy.

“For many, it’s a sudden and emotional journey that can change everything.. not just for the baby but for the mother too. Believe me, I know. Prematurity isn’t only a neonatal issue it’s a women’s health issue.

“Research shows that premature birth is often linked to underlying maternal factors such as inflammation, infection, stress and genetic predisposition yet so much about why it happens still remains unknown.

“Across the world, preterm birth complications are the leading cause of death among children under 5. And even when babies survive the physical and emotional impact on mothers can be profound - from trauma and anxiety to long-term reproductive health challenges.

“That’s why conversations like this matter.”

Since taking part in Love Island in 2016, Ms Andersson has been an advocate for women’s health and has used her social platforms to spread messages to support women and mothers.

She concluded her post by saying: “We need more research, funding and compassion in women’s health to understand the causes, support mothers through their recovery and create real change for future generations.

“Thank you @bornecharity for leading this important conversation and for the incredible work you’re doing to prevent preterm birth.

“Together, we can bring awareness, healing and hope.”
