The King of Spain has issued a health update after the Queen was hospitalised with an infection.
Queen Sofía of Spain was admitted to hospital on Tuesday evening after contracting a urinary tract infection.
The next day King Felipe shared an update on his mother’s health while leaving the Ruber International Hospital in Madrid where the Queen is recovering.
He told Hola!: “She is very well, cheerful and eager to be discharged and return as soon as possible.”

According to Spanish media reports, the King also spent time with Queen Sofía when she was admitted to hospital on Tuesday.
The Spanish Royal Household said that the Queen’s condition was “very rapid and favourable” and that she was “under observation.”
The former Queen of Spain was in Madrid before she became unwell attending the mass honouring of Fernando Gomez-Acebo at the Iglesia del Sacramento.

Queen Letizia and King Felipe also attended the funeral of the monarch’s cousin alongside Sofía.
The Queen was also pictured going to the wedding of Teresa Urquijo, the granddaughter of Princess Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, to José Luis Martínez-Almeida, the mayor of Madrid on April 6.
Sofía, the wife of King Juan Carlos, is said to have good health and was reportedly last hospitalised when she gave birth to King Felipe in 1968, according to Euro Weekly News.
They reported that the Queen leads an active lifestyle incorporating indoor exercises and outdoor activities into her daily routine.

Her scheduled royal visit to a food bank in Huesca on April 12 has been cancelled as she continues her recovery.
Sofía and Juan Carlos have three children: Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina and King Felipe.
In June 2014, Juan Carlos abdicated in favour of his son and Letizia and they became the King and Queen of Spain.
