The Lionesses have made it to the final of the Uefa Euro tournament after a tense match

King Charles has hailed the Lionesses' "remarkable" journey and roared them on to Euro glory in a new statement.

The Lionesses have made it to the final of the Uefa Euro tournament after a tense semi-final match against Italy.


His Majesty has subsequently issued a message to the Lionesses, their manager and their support team after tonight’s dramatic match.

Charles said: "My wife and I join all our family in wishing you, the proud Lionesses, our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A EURO tournament.

"Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated.

"Knowing the Lionesses' fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.

"Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible.

"Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more. Charles R."

Meanwhile, Prince William, 43, who is Patron of the Football Association, wrote on social media: "Brilliant performance @lionesses! One game from glory! #WEURO2025".

England scored a late goal amid extra time to emerge victorious over Italy in Geneva this evening.

Michelle Agyemang scored during the last few seconds of regulation to save the Lionesses and take the tie into extra time.

With seconds left in extra time, Chloe Kelly secured the win for England after she rebounded her saved penalty to secure the Lionesses a place in the final.

Italy took the lead just past the half-hour mark when Barbara Bonansea smashed the ball into the net at close range.

The game started brightly for the Lionesses, with Wiegman’s side controlling possession throughout the opening exchanges.

With less than 10 minutes left in the match, both Agyemang and Aggie Beever-Jones were brought on to strengthen England’s attack.

England is due to play in the final on Sunday, July 27.
