Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson welcomed daughter Theodora on May 20

Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, one of King Charles's most trusted senior staff, has welcomed his first child with his wife, Olivia.

The Lieutenant, often referred to as the "hot equerry", welcomed a baby girl named Theodora on May 20, 2026.

The news was announced on the births section in The Times, reading: "THOMPSON on 20th May 2026 to Olivia (née Lewis) and Lieutenant Colonel Jonny, a daughter, Theodora."

He married his PR executive wife Olivia, who is the daughter of former communications secretary to Queen Elizabeth, Simon Lewis, in May 2025, following the pair's engagement in October 2024.

"The engagement is announced between Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of Morpeth, Northumberland, and Olivia Rose, daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Lewis OBE of Primrose Hill, London," a statement read.

The couple married in St Mary's church in Wiltshire.

Lt. Col. Thompson had previously married marketing manager Caroline Thompson, with whom he shares a son. The pair split in 2022.

He is a member of the Fifth Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, having joined the army in 2006, aged 22.

He previously worked as the late Queen Elizabeth II's most senior bodyguard, before becoming the Super Equerry to King Charles.

The so-called "hot equerry", who will undoubtedly embark on a few weeks' paternity leave, returned to the spotlight last month following the King's State Visit to the US, on which he accompanied the monarch.

Notably, he was present at the star-studded fifth Annual King’s Trust Global Gala, hosted in New York's Rockefeller Center, where American lifestyle icon Martha Stewart bumped into the viral royal aide.

The writer posted a photograph of the equerry from the event, reigniting online interest in the royal aide.

"Can't believe I got this close to the 'hot equerry' Johnny Thompson, aide de camp to His Majesty, the King," she wrote alongside the image.

The businesswoman added: "We actually spoke while waiting for King Charles to get to us for a few words. Totally charming, completely cool, exceedingly handsome."

And earlier this month, Lt. Col. Thompson was seen sitting alongside Lady Louise Windsor at The Royal Windsor Horse Show during an evening display.

The duo appeared to strike up an instant rapport, engaging in lively discussion while exchanging smiles and laughter throughout the entertainment.
