King Charles is set for a hospital procedure next week for an enlarged prostate.

All of the King's upcoming public engagements have been postponed.


Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate.

"His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.

It comes as Kensington Palace confirmed that Princess Kate has undergone abdominal surgery and faces up to two weeks in hospital as she begins the recovery process.

The Princess of Wales had the planned operation at The London Clinic on Tuesday evening.

Prince William plans to combine being by both Kate and their children’s sides throughout the recovery process, royal sources have said.

Kate will return to her Windsor home following a period of 10 to 14 days in hospital.

It is understood that the condition is not cancerous.

It is expected that the Princess of Wales will then spend the next two to three months recovering from the surgery.
