Bafta winner Benedict Cumberbatch said: “It’s an inspiring story of one man, but also of an entire movement and philosophy.

“And you naturally want to try and save what you are a part of.”

Sir Kenneth Branagh revealed: “It’s a relationship between who we are and where we live. It takes you on a complicated journey in a simple way and ends up being profound.

“Small steps can add up to a cumulative impact, which is way beyond what you might have imagined to begin with.

“The King’s clear commitment to saying there are other ways to look at how we live on the planet.”

The 90-minute film shows His Majesty urging people to take a more serious approach to the climate, with mankind "actually destroying our means to survival".

It looks back at the King's philosophy and lifelong commitment to green issues.

Mr Cumberbatch's wife Sophie Hunter added: “There’s a sense of this movement that is growing that we are all going to be part of.

“The breadth of it and the range from the intimate and very personal to literally worldwide.

“This idea of really paying attention and a devotion that’s born out of that.”

Jools Holland concluded: “I think it’s a wake up call for anybody who doesn’t know anything about what the King’s been doing or talking about for the last 50 years.

“I didn’t realise how global his determined view of this has gone.

“Which all comes, and that's the most important part, from his enormous love and kindness of people.”

Dame Judi Dench, Alan Titchmarsh and Sir Rod Stewart were also in attendance at the production's premiere.
