The King has sent a “heartfelt” message of thanks to the public for all the support he received following his cancer diagnosis.
At the beginning of this week, Buckingham Palace announced that the King has been diagnosed with a “form of cancer,” but did not disclose what type.
In a message posted on The Royal Family official website, the King states: “I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days.

“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

Charles also revealed why he chose to tell the public about his cancer diagnosis.
The King said: “It is equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world.
“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience.”

The King has been open about his cancer diagnosis and his prostate treatment to raise awareness of these illnesses and encourage other people to get checked.
Following the King’s enlarged prostate announcement there was a surge in public interest into the condition.
The NHS website’s prostate enlargement page saw more than 11 times the number of visitors than the day before the King’s statement.
The page views on the NHS website raised from 1,414 the previous day to 16,410, which averages one click every five seconds.

Prostate Cancer UK also said that the number of users using the online risk checker jumped to 97%.
The charity praised the King “for his openness that’ll inevitably raise more awareness about the condition.”
This week Prince William also shared a rare insight into support for Princess Kate and King Charles during a speech at a charity event in London.
William said: “I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all.”
