King Charles attends Balmoral church service as he prepares for Scottish reception

King Charles was pictured in Scotland as he attended a church service ahead of holding a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The monarch was spotted travelling in a black Range Rover to Crathie Kirk, the church on the Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire.


Queen Camilla joined the King and was seated in the front seat of the vehicle, while the King had the back seats to himself.

The sighting comes just a day after Balmoral Castle announced that tickets have gone on sale for the spring and summer months in 2026.

In a post on social media, guests were told what they can expect to see when they attend the castle situated on the King’s 50,000-acre estate.

They said: “Tickets for Balmoral Castle in Spring & Summer 2026 are now available to book online.

"From March 28th through to mid-August, visitors can enjoy access to the grounds and gardens, the Ballroom Exhibition, the Mews Gift Shop, and the restaurant.

“Afternoon Tea with General Admission during the summer months is also available.”

The team also revealed that there were opportunities for theBalmoral Expedition Tour - a unique Land Rover experience exploring the wider Estate,” for devoted fans to get an exclusive look around the Highlands.

The King has headed to Scotland to hold a reception to mark the Scotland Investment Forum.

He will be joined in the Throne Room in the Palace of Holyroodhouse by the First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney, to celebrate Scotland’s entrepreneurial economy.

The reception will start with the King and First Minister meeting representatives from Rosebank Distillery.

The Rosebank Distillery, founded in 1840, is a local success story of innovation, sustainability, and biodiversity.

The distillery also won the Best in Show award at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

His Majesty and First Minister Sweeney will have the opportunity to taste a dram of whisky.

During the reception, Charles, accompanied by the First Minister, will meet investors, business representatives and leaders from industries including technology, healthcare and AI.

Recent research shows Scotland is the UK’s fastest growing territory for new technology incorporations, and investment in Scottish female-led businesses has risen 10.5 per cent in the last year.
