Princess Kate's children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are helping her remain in good spirits following her cancer diagnosis.

The Princess of Wales revealed that she had undergone a form of preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video message released on March 22nd.


Kate is now continuing her recovery process at home and will not undertake any royal duties for the foreseeable.

A family friend of the Princess of Wales has hailed the positive impact that spending time with George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5, who "buoy them with smiles" is having on Kate and William.

The insider told People: "Having fun together when they can is very important."

They added regarding George, Charlotte and Louis: "The children are at the centre of their world."

During her video message, the princess confirmed that she had told her three young children about her diagnosis.

Kate said: "It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok."

No date has been given regarding Kate's return to public duties while she receives treatment for the condition.

Kate said: "In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful.

"However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.

"My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment."

George, Charlotte and Louis have been on Easter break since March 23rd.

The children will return to Lambrook School in Berkshire for the summer term on April 17.
