Beatrice is depicted in Netflix's 'Scoop' which will be released on Friday April 5

Princess Beatrice will be put under a spotlight in less than 24 hours as her role in Prince Andrew's disastrous Newsnight interview is portrayed in Netflix's new film 'Scoop'.

The Princess of York is not a working member of the Royal Family and takes a more low-key approach to her public engagements compared to others in the monarchy.

However, the royal will feature in the highly-anticipated depiction of Prince Andrew's 2019 interview with Emily Maitlis.

Princess Beatrice, played by actress Charity Wakefield, will be portrayed as a concerned daughter trying to undertake due diligence alongside Andrew ahead of the interview.

Many viewers will be unaware that Beatrice had any involvement in her father's interview with the BBC before watching Scoop.

The film's release comes as promotion to a part-time working royal has been mooted for Beatrice.

The Royal Family has become more streamlined over the last five years with Prince Andrew stepping down from all public duties following the Newsnight interview.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also left their roles within the monarchy and have not shown any signs of wanting to return on a full-time basis.

King Charles and the Princess of Wales have both been diagnosed with forms of cancer in 2024 and are not undertaking any public duties while they continue their recovery processes.

Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and the Duchess of Edinburgh have been undertaking royal engagements in the absence of the King but an additional working royal would help ease the shortage further.

Princess Beatrice is already one of King Charles's Counsellors of State listed on the official Royal Family website.

Counsellors of State are authorised to carry out most official duties of King Charles in his absence.

Prince Andrew's youngest daughter Princess Eugenie is less likely to be promoted to a working member of the Royal Family as she splits her time between the UK and Portugal.

Beatrice joined senior members of the Royal Family at St George's Chapel in Windsor for King Constantine II of Greece's memorial service in February 2024 alongside her husband Edoardo.

The film's release will put a fresh spotlight on Prince Andrew, but his position in the Royal Family will remain the same, as a return to working royal status for the disgraced duke has been consistently ruled out.

Beatrice's appearance in Scoop is expected to be minimal but as a potential royal promotion hangs in the balance, the timing of Scoop's release is far from ideal.
