Princess Kate is set to make her return to public duties with appearances at Wimbledon and the French State Visit, adopting a more flexible approach to royal engagements.

According to sources, the Princess of Wales is likely to attend the tennis championships beginning Monday, 30 June, in her capacity as royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

She is also expected to play a significant role in President Macron's state visit to Windsor Castle on July 8.

This marks a carefully managed return to public life, with the princess prioritising balance whilst maintaining her commitment to royal duties and personal projects.

A source told the Mail: "She wants to find the right balance and work with a greater degree of flexibility than before."

The source emphasised the importance of this approach for her future role: "This is a woman who plays a very important role in the monarchy [as Princess of Wales and future Queen], but in order for her to do it, both now and in the future, she needs to get this right."

The insider also revealed the princess's selective approach to engagements: "She's quite strict now at working out what she needs to be at and what she doesn't."

Whilst the princess is not expected to appear in public this week, royal watchers are "very likely" to see her at Wimbledon when the championships commence.

Her participation in the French State Visit will likely include official "meet and greets" for President Macron at Windsor Castle.

Questions remain about whether she will attend the state banquet, having last done so in November 2023 for the South Korean President's visit.

Foreign travel appears unlikely this year, with sources indicating it is "not expected" as things stand.

The Prince of Wales's Earthshot Awards in Brazil this November remains Kensington Palace's primary focus, though Kate's attendance is yet to be confirmed.

The princess remains actively engaged behind the scenes, particularly with her early years initiative. "And people forget that even if they aren't seeing her in public, she is very hands-on behind the scenes with the team in the office," the source noted.

"She has her own projects to pursue, such as her early years initiative. That's a lifelong commitment for HRH."

Royal watchers can expect more domestic travel in the autumn, with the princess favouring "royal away days" within the UK.

She successfully tested this approach with a two-day trip to the Inner Hebrides in April and appears keen to continue this pattern of engagement.
