The Waleses are currently renovating their new home before settling into the property

Princess Kate was sighted perusing a furniture and antique store over the summer ahead of the Waleses' move to their “forever home” later this year.

It was recently revealed that Kate, Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, would move from Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge in Windsor.

Kate was spotted by locals at a storehouse on the Windsor Estate, which houses their current and future abode.

The store specialises in selling surplus royal furniture and antiques, and it appeared the Princess of Wales was stocking up for Forest Lodge.

Among the items Kate is believed to have picked out was a 24-seater dining table.

A source indicated this was a necessary purchase, given the significant upscaling from their current home.

“This house is much larger than Adelaide Cottage,” they said.

“There is a dining room and drawing room which require substantial pieces of furniture,' the source continued to tell the Mail.

As well as furniture shopping, the Waleses are in the process of renovating the 300-year-old Georgian manor.

Planning application lodged in June, revealing that both internal and external work is already underway.

The Prince and Princess are funding the move and renting out of their own pocket at no extra cost to the taxpayer, as reported by The Sun.

They will also maintain their preference for having no live-in staff.

Forest Lodge features many of its original period details, including Venetian windows and a half-barrel vaulted hallway ceiling.

Now valued at approximately £16million, the palatial property underwent a lavish £1.5million restoration in 2001.

An insider revealed the family's motivation for the move, stating: "Windsor has become their home. However, over the last few years while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage, there have been some really difficult times."

The source explained that the relocation offers the royals "an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind."

“This is a move for the long-term. They see it as their forever home,” they told The Sun.

A Kensington Palace spokesman told GB News: "The Wales family will move house later this year".

It has also emerged recently that Forest Lodge was also coveted by Sarah Ferguson, but her hopes were dashed by a royal "veto".
