The Princess of Wales led her children at the major commemorative event

Princess Kate was spotted delivering a touching remark to her daughter Princess Charlotte as the Royal Family gathered to observe VE Day on Monday.

The sweet moment concerned Prince William who was attending the event, resplendent in his blue RAF uniform, that commemorated the ending of World War Two in Europe.

Monday’s event marked 80 years since peace was finally declared on the continent on May 8, 1945.

Proceedings were led by King Charles and Queen Camilla who were joined by Prince William, Kate and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Buckingham Palace.

The commemoration featured a parade of 1,300 members of the armed forces and NATO allies, including a small contingent representing the Ukrainian military, which the Royal Family observedfrom a specially built dais on the Queen Victoria Memorial.

As the columns of soldiers made their way up The Mall and towards Buckingham Palace, keen-eyed viewers spotted the heartwarming exchange between Catherine and Charlotte.

A lip-reading expert observed the princess leaning over to her daughter and motioning towards Prince William.

“Doesn't Papa look smart today,” she appeared to say, reported The Sun.

William was wearing his Royal Air Force uniform, granted to him for his previous service to the military branch.

Evidently sharing the enthusiasm for the Prince of Wales’s striking attire, Prince Louis was also seen brushing his father’s jacket and tugging on its golden braided cord’s.

“It's not going to be long, and I want you to be taking an interest,” William is thought to have told his youngest son.

After observing the impressive procession, the Royal Family retired the balcony of Buckingham Palace to witness a flypast featuring a dazzling selection of aircraft.

The finest example of Britain's air power took to the capital’s skies, including those at the front lines of the country’s defence.

Among the first wave were Voyager transports aircraft, which are used to supply Ukrainian forces, and P8 Poseidon's that watch over British waters for Russian ships.

In a poignant tribute to the past and future of aviation, a World War Two era Lancaster bomber was joined by a fifth generation F-35 Lightning fighter.

Closing off the epic ceremony were the iconic Red Arrows, which another eagle-eyed viewer observed was a particular delight to Prince Louis.

As the Red Arrows approached before putting on their amazing display, the seven-year-old Prince appeared to announce: “That’s my favourite!”

Streaming clouds of red, white and blue behind them, the jets flew over the Palace in formation seemingly prompting Louis to exclaim: “Look at all of the colours!”

At another point, lip-reader Nicola Hickling also observed Prince William quizzing his children on the various planes passing overhead, reported the Daily Mail.

“Do you know what it is,” the Prince of Wales is said to have asked.

Eldest George seemed to reply studiously: “No, but I do know it's got two way four engines.”

“Exactly,” the Prince of Wales appeared to confirm, later singling out a particular plane with the comment: “That must be Britannia.”
