Princess Kate and Prince William have been said to be taking a defiant stance regarding their "mental health and family life," a royal insider has suggested.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were also described as unafraid to hold their ground on this commitment even if it brought them into conflict with established royal tradition.
Their comments come as it was announced the Waleses were preparing to leave Adelaide Cottage behind and move to their new "forever home" later this year.

"The new house marks a new era for the family," the insider began.
They added: "The decision to move into this new home is a significant one that signals independence, though it is not entirely surprising."
William and Kate were described as being "are very strict about their boundaries" with a keen focus on "their mental health and family life".
To that end, the source felt the family would firmly stick by this approach even if it butted heads with typical royal expectations.
The news comes as it emerged the couple and their children would move into Forest Lodge later this year

"They have witnessed how the role of monarch can consume one’s entire being," the insider continued to Marie Claire.
"While they take their responsibilities very seriously, they are not afraid to say no when necessary."
It follows the reports that the Waleses would remain at Forest Lodge fulltime and were "unlikely" to move to Buckingham Palace when William one day becomes King.
Forest Lodge can be found in the heart of Windsor Great Park, a short distance from Windsor Castle and Lambrook School which all three children currently attend.

The 300-year-old Grade II-listed property, valued at £16million, is already seeing interior and exterior renovations ahead of the Waleses arrival.
Last week, the property was a hive of activity, with new shrubs being planted and builders’ vans parked outside. A metal fence with black mesh privacy screens was also erected.
At the time, a Kensington Palace spokesman confirmed to GB News that: "The Wales family will move house later this year."
With its chandelier-lit ballroom, tennis court, Venetian windows and extensive grounds, Forest Lodge is a marked upgrade from Adelaide Cottage.

The cottage is a cosy four-bedroom house where the family has lived for the past three years.
Their time at the relatively humble abode was hampered by a difficult period for the family, with Queen Elizabeth II dying at Balmoral just weeks after settling in.
Adelaide Cottage would also become the place of convalescence for Princess Kate during her cancer battle in 2024.
King Charles’s own ongoing treatment for cancer cast an additional shadow over royal affairs.
Royal insiders say William and Kate are hoping for a "fresh start" at Forest Lodge and a chance to leave behind some of those unhappy associations.
